Sorry for any rambling, I'm sleep deprived and still trying to wrap my mind around this.

Yesterday I was buying garden stuff, and as I was loading things a tiny black cat ran up, rubbed all over my legs and then got into my car. I checked and confirmed she didn't belong to anyone (I was told she roams the neighborhood), so off we went.

I took her to the vet and confirmed she's not chipped. She needs to have a few teeth removed (to the tune of $1400) and can barely eat, is underweight, isn't spayed and even though she's tiny she's around 2 years old.

She was so dirty that my hands were black after petting her, she stunk and her poor ears are so dirty. Her nails are so long that they're practically curling over her toes.

She doesn't seem to know how to play with toys and is the sweetest cat I've ever met. She follows me everywhere, insists on being held and won't stop purring. She even woke me up at 1 AM, pawed me til I pet her and then fell asleep on my chest.

I've never owned a cat and have no idea what I'm doing. I have 3 big dogs, so she's locked in my room away from them. 2 out of 3 have only ever shown aggression at the ferals we have in the neighborhood (they like to hang out in our front yard),

so I'm super nervous. We've been letting the dogs sniff our clothes/blankets that she's laid on to get them used to her scent. She doesn't seem to be a fan of them, but I'm hoping that with some time, they'll all get along or at least be indifferent to each other. My family and I are already attached to her.

She doesn't have a name yet. Nothing I ever pictured for a black cat seems to suit her, but we're leaning towards Nyx or Zelda. I'll take any ideas anyone has for a name, as well as cat care tips.

I just wanted to give an update on the cat that adopted me on Nov 3rd by hopping into my car. Her name is Maus, cause she's tiny. My husband picked it and it fits her.

She is fully integrated into the house, and the Rottweiler (Gryffin) is half terrified of her, half hurt that she doesn't love him, and his confusion when she chases the balls we throw for him is hilarious.

The cattle dog (Arya) adores her and just wants to love on her, not that Maus allows it - Arya gave her a quick kiss once and got bapped in return.

The Shepherd (Freya), the one that I was worried about the most, also loves the cat and is hurt that she doesn't allow kisses (she tried to give a kiss once, got smacked by Maus and hid behind me).

Maus waits at the door when they're outside, and even lets me know when they're at the door waiting to come in. They're basically her dogs, but I don't think they've realized it yet.

She will not eat unless we put her bowl next to the dog bowls and she also won't drink out of the special cat water fountain or bowl.. no, she wants the dogs water.

She also likes Gryffin's old dog bowl over the fancy cat dishes that I bought to avoid whisker fatigue. So far I've learned that she is not fancy.

As far as health stuff, it turned out she had a terrible case of stomatitis and the vet removed all but 11 teeth, and now she's a totally different cat.

She's gained weight, and we even had to get her kibble of her own because she kept trying to eat the dogs kibble (we just make sure to add water and/or wet cat food). She also has bradycardia, but is fiv/leukemia free.

The vet wants to wait to do shots/spay until her mouth is healed. Fine by me, because the teeth alone cost nearly $2500 and that hurt. I'd do it again, she's worth it.

Anyway, she's a happy, sweet, and super awesome cat. We all love her to bits and I'm glad she picked me.
